Abstract :
A multimode DFB laser model based on the Green´s function method is presented. A numerical procedure for finding the self-consistent multimode solutions is outlined. Numerical results are shown to be in good agreement with experiments and qualitatively different types of multimode behaviour are discussed. An example illustrates that the output spectra from the two laser facets may show very different side mode suppression ratios
