Abstract :
An embedded system is normally adapted to a specific application and optimized for speed, power consumption and cost. In applications where power consumption and cost are important, embedded systems are typically very small. Because of the limited hardware resources of such a system it is normally not possible to utilize a real-time operating system - even though it would reduce development costs. This paper describes the inner principles of a real time operating system that is able to work with minimal resources and very effective power use.
