Abstract :
In response to the public´s concern about living near a 500 kV transmission line, Public Service Electric & Gas Company of New Jersey conducted measurements to determine the magnitudes of electric and magnetic fields in and around homes adjacent to the line. Results of the measurements indicated that house walls provided shielding from the electric field and that the electric fields created by house wiring were a significant part of the total field inside the homes.
