Abstract
5th and 7th harmonics generated by a static var control system may be eliminated by the conventional twelve pulse arrangement employing wye-wye and wye-delta transformers or by an alternative scheme described in this paper. The alternative scheme offers the advantages that only one transformer is needed and generally less transformer loss is generated. Theoretical analysis and digital simulation of the new scheme are presented. The performances of the alternative scheme under balanced and unbalanced conditions have been investigated.
