Abstract :
The following bounds for the overshoot/undershoot \\epsilon of the unit step response of a band-limited system are derived: frac{1}{\\pi} \\int_{\\omega _{0}T}^{\\infty } K_{0}(\\xi)d \\xi < \\epsilon < frac{1}{\\pi} K_{0}(\\omega _{0}T) where 2T is the rise time, (- \\omega _{0}, \\omega _{0}) is the bandwidth, and K_{0} is the zeroth-order modified Bessel function of the second kind. The suboptimal response corresponding to the upper bound is also discussed.
