Abstract :
A transient voltage monitoring system has continuously monitored the terminal voltages of the EHV transformers at American Electric Power´s Rockport 765 kV Station since late September 1986. This paper presents a summary of the transients recorded by that system through July of 1988, along with representative waveforms of some of the more significant events. A general description of each type of transient and a qualitative analysis of the resultant waveforms is given. In addition, digital computer simulations of select events are presented and compared to corresponding recorded waveforms.
