Abstract :
There are three modes of heat transfer, namely, conduction, convection and radiation, between cable and its surrounding wall. An up-to-date but simple heat transfer calculation for each mode is presented in this paper. The exact knowledge about three modes of heat transfer is important not only for transient load and/or cyclic load analysis but also for calculating the load capability of cables.
