Abstract :
A heavily-instrumented full-scale facility to evaluate the forced-cooling characteristics of HPOF pipe-type cable has been in operation at the EPRI Waltz Mill Cable Test Facility. This paper describes the important details of the system and presents selected results. Particular emphasis is placed on the degree of cable snaking that occurred and its effect on the pressure drop and heat transfer characteristics of the cable system.
