Abstract :
In this paper a new edge and motion adaptive normal definition to higher definition (NDHD) scanning rate conversion algorithm is presented. The algorithm utilizes both edge and motion information. Edge analysis is done separately inter- and intrafield, intended for interpolation in stationary and moving regions, respectively. Motion information is obtained from a frame difference signal which is expanded horizontally if horizontal interfield edge is detected. Steerable FIR-filters are used in the interpolation
