Abstract :
This paper describes a telephone line interface whose architecture was developed for use with modems in portable computers. It is programmable, allowing it to meet the regulatory requirements of all major country telephone authorities (PTTs). It contains two integrated circuits, one of which is described with the overall system in this paper, the other is described in a separate paper
