Harold Sobol received many honors during his career, including IEEE Life Fellow, the Microwave Career Award, the IEEE Centennial Medal, the IEEE Millennium Medal, the MTTS Distinguished Service Award, 1970 National Lecturer, 1986 IMS Best Presented Paper Award, IEEE Dallas Section Outstanding Engineer Award, Industrial Research IR-100 Award, and the Distinguished Service to Engineering Award from the University of Texas at Arlington. Two IEEE organizations have honored Harold Sobol posthumously with awards in his name.
