Abstract
An approximate method of determining the power required to drive the grid circuit of a vacuum tube power amplifier of the class C type when operating at radio frequencies is developed, and a comparison given between the results obtained by this method, and more exact measurements made at sixty cycles. The only quantities which need to be known for the method described are the grid excitation voltage and the direct grid current, the driving power being given by the formula Wd = √2Eg Ic .
