Abstract :
A distributed data-acquisition network has been designed and implemented for the conversion of the LLNL nuclear chemistry counting facility into a modern research facility. A major task of the conversion was to provide support for diverse nuclear instrumentation using the CAMAC instrumentation standard. The data-acquisition network and the counting-system workstations are described, and the design and implementation of the CAMAC subsystem incorporated into the data-acquisition network are discussed. The scaler/timer system, the sample changers, and the workstations software are examined in some detail
