Abstract
The author outlines a more balanced approach to CIM, a balance between technology, organisation, and the people within the company. Human-centred CIM informs, automates and re-skills the work force, and is based on utilising and reinforcing peoples skills together with enhancing the best aspects of all the previously used manufacturing techniques. It is shown that human-centred CIM enables the skill base of the company to be revitalised
