Abstract :
Non-geometric high dielectric constant stress relef has been used successfully since the 1960´ s for terminating shielded power cable primarily in tape form. Unique problems occurred when adapting the early tape form of this technology to formulate high dielectric constant elastomers which could be molded or extruded. Balancing material selections, and the synergism between materials is a complex compromise of chemical, electrical, and physical factors. The resultant work provides an economical elastomer for terminating primary voltage cable, and effective distribution of the electrical field along the termination surface.
