Abstract :
A traffic flow constrained by a token bucket regulator is considered and analysed from an information theoretic point of view. Specifically, the maximum average information (or the entropy) it may convey in a given time is determined, when taking into account the side information present in the form of variable packet lengths even as the flow conforms to the imposed traffic constraints. This may have an impact on a pricing policy that is based on regulator parameters.
