Abstract :
Image compression is the application of data compression on digital images. To overcome the inefficiencies in the JPEG standard and serve emerging areas of mobile and Internet communication, thus the new JPEG2000 standard has been developed based on the principles of DWT. The encoding process for satellite images in this standard are too complex and time consuming which makes the system too slow down in its process. The proposed work involves in providing a better algorithm for compressing images from satellite in terms of area, power and timings.
