Abstract
The Automatic Rectosing of Transmission Lines Working Group of the IEEE Power System Relaying Committee reviewed the application, experiences, benefits and problems associated with automatic reclosing of transmission lines. These facets of automatic reclosing are described and discussed in this paper. The Working Group conducted a three-part survey questionaire on the practices and experiences with high speed automatic reclosing of transmission lines. The results of this survey from the 99 U. S. electric utilities and a bibliography of papers for further information on various aspects of reclosing are included.
