Abstract
The paper shows, with an example and a generalized discussion, the effect of stray capacitance in various parts of the antenna circuit upon the observed circuit resistance. Stray capacitance at the base of a capacitive antenna decreases the apparent antenna resistance while in the case of an inductive antenna it increases it. A method of approaching the true resistance of an antenna in the presence of stray capacitance is presented, and the possibility of extending its use to the measurement of the high-frequency resistance of coils is pointed out.
