Abstract
The author presents seven pieces of simple management wisdom which he believes are most lacking in engineering managers, whose technical competence is usually unquestionable. The first point is to have a clear marketing strategy, this includes advertising versus public relations, exporting, and commission agents versus salaried sales force. The other two points discussed in this part of the article are setting a realistic profit objective and making a credible business plan
