Abstract :
A reduced-order iterative method for power system swing mode computation has been proposed. In addition, a criterion for identifying the swing mode is proposed to check if the mode obtained by the iterative method is a swing mode. Studies on a 13-machine power system indicate that the proposed method is more accurate and faster than the QR method. The storage requirements are also much smaller
