Abstract
The eddy currents in the beam tube of an accelerator magnet are computed by a transient, 2D finite-element model of the magnet cross section, coupled to a 2D model of the tube surface outside of the active magnet part. By this coupling, a full 3D model is avoided, although the most important end effects are included.
