Abstract :
The magnetic field on the surface of the end bell of a 10 HP induction motor is measured by Hall-effect probes and search coils under different test conditions. The losses are also measured. The results show that the leakage field and surface losses on the end bell are very small and have little effect on the efficiency and temperature rise of the machine.
