Abstract :
For the critical design of a solid-salient-pole machine, it is necessary to calculate the losses accurately. In this paper, the losses in a solid-salient-pole machine under asynchronous operation are calculated using the finite element method (FEM). The results of calculation are generalized so that the designer can accurately estimate losses over the pole surfaces of a solid-salient-pole machine without using FEM every time.
