Abstract :
This paper presents the field experience with a simplified tap estimation algorithm implemented at the Union Electric Load Dispatch System. The technique enhances the capabilities of the State Estimator by generating estimates for non-telemetered transformer tap positions. Various test results indicate that the method is simple, fast and highly suitable for real-time applications. Actual field data are compared with the calculated tap positions. The paper presents some background information followed by algorithmic descriptions and test results on the Union Electric system.
