Abstract :
ISMA/P (inhibit sense multiple access with polling) protocol is a new medium access control protocol for GSM data, introduced by S.S. Chakraborty and S. Wager (see ibid., vol.48, no.1, p.240-8, 1999). Their simulations are not validated with analysis and turn out to be incorrect. For this reason, this paper provides an analysis method for ISMA/P and formulas for throughput, rejection ratio, and delay. New simulation results agree well with the analytical results so that the accuracy of performance analysis is validated. Also, the unfairness of ISMA/P is explained.
