Abstract :
The author addresses a small fraction of the activities being pursued to understand and exploit acoustic phenomena. Advantages of acoustic techniques including types of wave motion; wavelength and propagation speed; and interaction with propagating media are discussed. Generation and reception of sound is looked at and applications of piezoelectric polymers are also described
