Abstract :
Bulb turbines were used to rehabilitate three hydroelectric projects owned and operated by the City of Idaho Falls in Southeastern Idaho. The projects all have gross heads of approximately 5.8 meters (19 ft.) and are designed to utilize a flow of 170 cms (6,000 cfs). Because of the similarities of the sites, economy was achieved by purchase of three identical eight (8) megawatt units and designing each power- house the same. The physical arrangement of the structures differ slightly due to the variations in site geographies. Each plant is remotely operated and unmanned.
