Abstract
A three phase gas insulated potter cable has been analysed. Phase currents are sinusoidal in a steady state and balanced condition. Three tubular conductors are symmetrically arranged within a tubular shell. Homogeneity and linearity have been assumed. There is no restriction concerning permeabilities and thicknenses of the tubes. In this part of the paper the field and eddy currents have been calculated. Complex potentials were used to describe the field in the insulation space. Solution of the diffusion equation for the vector potential were used to describe the field inside the conductors. Furthermore a technique is suggested which uses ficticious current sheets on the conductor surface.
