Installation and Operation of 600A Padmounted Deadfront Switchgear Wisconsin Electric Power Company´s Experience

Equipment is now available which provides maximum public and operator safety. Recent developments in the design of deadfront switchgear and associated terminations has resulted in deadfront padmounted switch-fuse units being available which meet the needs of Wisconsin Electric and many other electric utilities. This paper describes the design, installation, and operation of such equipment. Operating requirements, how they were determined and achieved are discussed. The information presented was obtained in a large part from field experience.
