Abstract :
Computer oriented methods of modelling the grounding system design of substations, allows the engineer to bypass many assumptions and approximations that are otherwise necessary in analyzing a grounding arrangement with traditional methods. The advantages of developed methods of computer analysis are based on the so-called exact determination of leakage current density along the grounding electrode. Amongst the various methods proposed in the literature, three of them were selected [2,3,4] because of their flexibility, accuracy and simplicity in determining the current distribution of all practical cases. This paper summarizes the results of a research programme conducted to investigate the basic question of the degree of applicability of these methods.
