Abstract :
In this paper a, new method is discussed for the low density clouds removal of the tropical cyclones(TCs) by extracting the spiral features with in this using the thermal infrared (TIR) imagery from geostationary operated meteorological satellites. MET-SAT TIR images of three TCs which are, Thane (Dec 25-30 2011), Giri (Oct 20th-23rd, 2010), Jal (Nov 1st-8th, 2010) using the image processing techniques, and the low density clouds around the mature tropical cyclone are removed by applying the image threshold value and image filtering techniques. The proposed method has a high potential to be applied a mature TCs TIR image which is very useful for short range and medium range track forecast application.
