Abstract :
A double panel session on Power Plant Distributed Control took place in conjunction with the Joint Power Generation Conference in Indianapolis during Septeniber 25-29, 1983. The prepared presentations and the discussions on controversial issues were followed vividly by an interested audience. More discussions were received, subsequent to the sessions, by the author of this report and chairman of these panels. Such topics were addressed as: The advantages of Distributed Control as proven by experience; What availability can be expected from signal multiplexing; Which signals could be and which could not be confined to shared buses; The segregation of subsystems; The recommended degree of distribution and automation, etc.
