Abstract :
In the current work, we have demonstrated a method for interrogation of FBG using two LPGs and Artificial Neural Network. The LPG acts as an edge filter for the sensor FBG, such that a change of strain on the FBG causes a wavelength shift which in turn results an increase or decrease in the power detected by the photodetector. The ANN is used to learn the pattern from the two photodetectors and the combination of LPGs ans ANN are used for reliable measurement of the strain. Results have been presented for a simply supported beam with the strain applied in the range of 0-1750μstrain.
