Abstract :
The results of implementing several transferable analysis tools for the analysis and evaluation of end-use monitoring, direct-load control programs are described. These tools are the duty cycle model and the demand-side design and analysis workstation. The PC-based workstation has proved to be a viable, cost-effective means of analyzing the voluminous data used in the program evaluation. The duty cycle model, unlike other program evaluation techniques, can calculate the load impact of virtually any load-control strategy, not just those operated by the utility. Using air conditioner (AC) data from the Athens (Tennessee) automation and control experiment, it is calculated that average peak period AC load reduction is 0.92 kW under a 40% cycling strategy
