Abstract :
This paper presents a general model for the representation of a thyristor-controlled reactor (TCR) in frequency domain. The model undelines the implementation of a Newton-Raphson procedure to determine the periodic steady state of the power system with fast convergence and high accuracy. The TCR model is used as a building block to represent more sophisticated power electronics apparatus, such as the static var compensator (SVC) and the thyristor-controlled series capacitor (TCSC).
