Abstract
A new discrete current-regulated pulsewidth modulation (CRPWM) scheme-Δ modulation in the synchronous frame-is introduced. This scheme and two other discrete CRPWM schemes suitable for field-oriented drives are studied and compared in terms of bus utilization. The effect of switching frequency and flux level in the machine on the performance of the current regulator is also discussed. The analysis is based primarily on simulation, with experimental results from a digital-signal-processor (DSP)-based drive used to verify the simulation results
