Abstract :
The hydrogen immunity of Er-doped fibre amplifiers is demonstrated. An amplifier fibre based on aluminum-lanthanum doped silica glass, which is intrinsically insensitive to hydrogen, is developed. Accelerated hydrogen aging tests on amplifier and fibre show no degradation at exposure to 0.1 atm hydrogen at 150°C
