  • Abstract
This paper presents a study of tracking filters. Such filters are industrially important and useful in those applications requiring tight bandwidth control for obtaining improved signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A "high-Q" tracking filter achieves good SNR and will "track" a wandering carrier frequency to maintain the same SNR. This paper outlines the analysis and design of tracking filters. The filter transfer function H_{TF}(s) and model will be presented. The transient responses will be predicted using the filter transfer function. Design procedures will also be outlined. These procedures will be used to design a typical tracking filter.
