Abstract :
A new dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with reduced size for WLAN applications is presented. The proposed antenna consists of a rectangular dielectric resonator with partial vertical and horizontal metallisations which is coupled to a microstrip line through a rectangular aperture in the ground plane. A 9.6 reduction coefficient is obtained compared to the volume of an equivalent isolated DRA. An experimental 12% bandwidth is also achieved in spite of the compact size.
