Abstract :
This part of the paper analyzes the performance of thyristor valves under an assumed overvoltage situation. It shows that the new designs can result in a saving in the thyristor valve cost. The paper also discusses the importance of various factors which must be included in the design optimization. Finally an efficient model for static compensators is proposed for power systems load flow and transient stability digital simulation.
