Abstract
In case of the salient pole synchronous machine, coil brackets are usually placed between poles to support the rotor winding against centrifugal force. In general, four brackets are arranged along the axial direction of the pole for the foui pole machine in view of both the rigidity of the rotor winding and the centrifugal force. In addition, the number of brackets used has to be determined considering the gas flow and the coil temperature distribution between poles.
