Abstract
An extension of the semianalytical method for the analysis of the first order vector correction of arbitrary isotropic profiles to the analysis of the first order vector correction for arbitrary circular and noncircular anisotropic profiles in optical waveguides is presented. The results presented are only for anisotropic profiles possessing purely diagonal permittivity tensors and, in contrast to conventional purely numerical methods, no approximations in the analysis of the first order correction for arbitrary anisotropic profiles are implemented. The method of analysis is shown to possess extremely high accuracy (<10 -5%)
