Abstract :
The closed-loop pitch predictor (CLPP) is an essential part of most linear-prediction based analysis-by-synthesis (LPAS) coders. The author discusses the relation between the periodicity of the original and reconstructed signals for LPAS coders with a CLPP. It is shown that the periodicity is unchanged if the periodicity of the original signal is generated with an autoregressive model and increases or decreases for several other signal classes. The theoretical findings are confirmed by experiments
