Abstract
The vibrational relaxation rates were measured for methanol-SF6 and for methanol-He collisions by infrared-far infrared spectroscopy. It was found that the vibrational relaxation rate is higher for methanol-He collisions than for methanol-SF6 collisions, confirming the higher increment of the output power of the far-infrared lasers using He buffer gas in comparison to the use of SF 6
