Abstract :
An empirical analysis of a MAP (manufacturing automation protocol) is provided. Performance metrics, such as throughput and elapsed time, that were measured in a number of configurations, are presented. A detailed regression analysis of the factors affecting performance is given, along with some guidelines for improving performance. Practical examples of solving real-world factory communication problems using the measurement results reported here are given.<>
