Abstract :
Soliton generation and coding are obtained using a novel, and simple tandem integrated electroabsorption (EA) MQW modulator structure. Negligible electrical crosstalk (<40 dB) is obtained due to the integration between the modulators, of an optical amplifier based on the same active layer. This also allowed a very low fibre to fibre insertion loss of 9 dB. The device was operated at 10 Gbit/s
