BPA 1100 kV Transmission System Development Corona and Electric Field Studies

This paper describes the Bonneville Power Administration´s 1200 kV Lyons Test Facility. Results of the first year´s test program are presented. Audible noise and radio and television interference longterm data is analyzed and presented as are results of electric field and induced current tests in the vicinity of the line. Measurements of the symmetrical 8 ×41 mm (Chukar) bundle tested during the first year compare favorably with predicted values.
