Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the phased development of the MHD power system program and the development issues which are being addressed. System engineering considerations for the development logic and design criteria are established in terms of systems-emphasizing open cycle MHD-and components - combustor, generator, materials, seed recovery, emission control, magnets and power conversion systems.
