  • Abstract
    A dual underexcitation characteristic limiter scheme for voltage regulators is introduced which extends the usable reactive capability of generators for the control of transmission voltage levels. A field installation at Commonwealth Edison´s Powerton Station is described which demonstrates additional underexcited capability of approximately 300 Mvars from two 992 MVA 90% power factor generators.
